This is a tribute to a sadly forgotten early 20th century bandleader.
A lyrical genius, Harry Roy had a long, interesting career.
The most surprising thing about him, though, is how he became even more interesting after he passed away.

This is not what I expected from Cuban radio, but I should have.  It’s eclectic, interesting and devoid of ads (Cuba has no advertising…radio, TV, billboards…you name it).  This is what radio was like in the US before Clear Channel & their corporate chums began trying to sterilize our minds for profit.

You’ll probably get a lot more out of this series if you’re fluent in Spanish, but I know almost none and I love it.  I bet you will, too.  Throw this in your iTunes for something completely different.

On this episode:

We hear instrumental covers of some classics.   Even the intro/outro music between songs is glorious, kitschy & endearing (They use a clip of ELO, folks–I mean, come on.).  Enjoy!/¡Disfrutar!

“By the way, if anyone here is in marketing or advertising…kill yourself. Thank you. Just planting seeds, planting seeds is all I’m doing. No joke here, really. Seriously, kill yourself, you have no rationalization for what you do, you are Satan’s little helpers. Kill yourself, kill yourself, kill yourself now. Now, back to the show. Seriously, I know the marketing people: ‘There’s gonna be a joke comin’ up.’ There’s no fuckin’ joke. Suck a tail pipe, hang yourself…borrow a pistol from an NRA buddy, do something…rid the world of your evil fuckin’ presence.”

While everything was going on in Boston, PSY was debuting the video for “Gentleman” on Youtube.

It seems like the song features the same music & melody as the last song, but maybe it’s because I don’t care.

The part I thought WAS interesting is that he is wearing pants that are a cross between:
Hammer Pants‘ & ‘Hipster Pants‘.

My friend Orion and I call them ‘Hamster Pants’.  We do that because it’s funny.

…and here, you can see the whole confusing video for yourself (complete with a plethora of ‘thrusting fits’ & a string of the most pathetic practical jokes of all-time):

There might be a reason his name sounds like ‘sigh’.

We Talk About:

This is the story of the night my friends & I spent backstage w/ music legend Donovan:

We shared a joint.  My friend got groped…and we learned about a future where every thing & every moment has its own scent.

(…yup, that Donovan–the ‘Mellow Yellow’ guy…)

The words of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. (01.15.1929)…

…with music by: dirtbike. (featuring sax by: Nate Lumbard)

I listened to ~400 hours of Dr King’s words. Whenever he was talking about Vietnam, it sounded like he was talking about Iraq/Afghanistan…I put it to some of my music…THE END.

Wrath (Latin, ira), also known as anger or “rage”, may be described as inordinate and uncontrolled feelings of hatred and anger. Anger, in its purest form, presents with self-destructiveness, violence, and hate that may provoke feuds that can go on for centuries. Anger may persist long after the person who did another a grievous wrong is dead. Feelings of anger can manifest in different ways, including impatiencerevenge, and vigilantism.

Here’s the last installment of the original night of recording back in March ’11.  Get ready for a silly one…
