Here are some of the comments from the youtube video for ‘Supernaut’ by Black Sabbath
(Sábado Negro).
One would think I would have a lot in common with people who like the same semi-obscure song from this band, but somehow internet comment pages always seem to end up with people doing this:

I feel like the only one I kind of relate to is ‘chutoi26’. Then, they go and bash the Ramones out of nowhere (plus, the whole ‘calling yourself “chew toy” thing’ creeps me out a little).

Next is where it degrades to a hate-fest…
First of all, how does not liking this song mean you’re a man who likes having sex with other men? I’m not seeing the connection there…anybody?
(and why, of course, do people resort to gay and racial slurs so fast online–especially about things like the degree to which you like a certain song?)
Secondly, how can someone be gay AND a motherfucker?
I think I have a grasp on what those words mean…
…and it seems like the logic is falling apart on that one.

Anyway, the song is still muy bad-ass. Tony Iommi, Geezer Butler, Ozzy Osbourne, Bill Ward…

…how to hear this thing (including on iTUNES!!!)…

Ok, so you can:

 

A: listen to these shows ‘STREAM’ on this site by just pressing the play button in each show’s post…

 

B: SUBSCRIBE via e-mail (weirdly, by using the button at the top of the page that says,

“E-mail Subscription”)–You’ll get an e-mail when something new is posted…

 

C: Bookmark this page–it will show up in your ‘Bookmarks’ and you can come back and

check it out whenever you happen to remember to (at least in Safari it will)…

(but without any e-mails–if you’re scared of that)…

 

Also, I just figured out a way to…(drum roll, please)…

 

D: DOWNLOAD these little shows I’m making here…

 

Here’s how:

1) You can go to the iTunes Store and search under “Podcasts” for “portlandians” (you can listen and/or subscribe there).

Or…

2a) Click on the ‘RSS Feed’ (click on the highlighted words “RSS Feed” or the “RSS” with

the cute little symbol–they’re both at the top of the homepage [portlandians.com])

2b) When it takes you to that page, look in the grey sidebar on the right and

find the section named “Actions”…

2c) Click on “Subscribe in iTunes” (and watch a computer make more magic than David Blaine)…

…boof.

 

(no e-mails for these two ways, either–and you can take it with you and PUT IT ON YOUR iPOD or some shit)

[editor’s note: I typed the title of this show wrong & it said, “I coming…It’s promise”.  
I desperately want that to be the punchline of someone’s ‘trip to Europe gone wrong’ story.]


samson: Sorry, peeps–I’ve been stupidbusy with videos and with finals coming up…but I did manage to record part of the first episode!…so that’s cool, right!?

Listeners: Ya…not so much there, buddy–Where’s our media-based content?!

(…sorry about the “listeners” thing–I don’t what to call you guys yet, but that felt weird…i gotta come up with something else…maybe PORTLANDIANS!?…that kinda feels weird, too-but in a gross way……i don’t know…)

Anyway, the first episode is going to be based somehow around* the ‘Portlandia’ show (yes folks, Portlandians talking ‘Portlandia‘)[editor’s note: This show never happened…& probably never will.]

We’ll probably just ‘start’ talking about whatever any show’s theme is…after that, it’s a free jam (or for you hipsters, an ironic guitar solo…you know–from some band that you really, and non-ironically, LIKE–only you can’t admit it, so you act like you like them as a joke)…

This is where you can find, in the very near future (by the end of this month, hopefully), a podcast (vaguely) about my life (in Portland)…

“Portlandians” (portlandians.com)

 

It’ll be a free-form, chameleon style show with:

-‘sit-ins’ at band practices and local shows from one of the biggest and best music scenes in the country–we have (or had) the shins, the decemberists, the thermals, quasi, stephen malkmus, spoon, sleater-kinney, the blow, m ward, march fourth marching band and even storm large all based here…who’s next?…hear them here…

-shooting the shit sessions with my buddies about: killer music of all kinds, stupid & funny comedy, ‘radical’ politics, the latest rants–whatever happens…

-interviews with: local comics and musicians; DIY champions and random bad-asses; interesting, quirky, local ‘weirdos’; and just real, normal people with great stories to tell (honest, good people I like to call the ‘real guys‘)…

-brutally honest discussions as we all try to help each other figure out how to ‘grow up’ (mostly me)…(what’s got two thumbs and some issues?…we do.)…([we?…2?])…

-and more of life in the bubble…anything can happen…it’ll be fuckin’ hilarious, too!!! (I think)…

 

just don’t move here…
